Rosney (Pete) J. Vead, aged 79 years, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2017 with his family surrounding him after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Oralee Brunett Bailey Vead, his son Keith Vead (Tonya), daughter Kim Powell (Steve) and granddaughter Theresa Vead. Pete is also survived by his step-children, Debra Dolese, Robert Bailey Jr, Jeffrey Bailey, step-grandson Robert Bailey III, sister Rose Looney, several step-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents Hypolite and Rosalie Vead, brothers Norman, Even and Tom, sisters Corrine and Virgie and Keith and Kim’s mother Linda Wilson Vead.

Originally from Echo, LA, Pete graduated from Poland High School, was a lifelong resident of Metairie, LA and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Divine Providence Catholic Church. Pete was retired from the US Postal System, and International Harvester Twine Co. Pete was a kind-hearted man who loved his family and was known for his kindness, generosity and caring heart. He enjoyed designing and building projects and took great pride in being known as a jack-of-all trades. He was a proud veteran of the Louisiana National Guard.

The Vead family will always remember the loving and respectful care given to Pete by the entire staff of Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care. The family also fondly thanks his sitters, Sheila Young and Sandra Barker for their special care.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA and the visitation will begin at 10:00 am until service time.
