Margaret "Peggy" Gantnier Vinet

August 16, 1923 ~ March 17, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Margaret "Peggy" Gantnier Vinet was born on August 16, 1923 in West Newbury, Massachusetts and went to her heavenly home on March 17, 2017 surrounded by her children. She grew up in Connecticut in a farm setting, walked to a classic little red schoolhouse and graduated from Danbury High School. During the war years, she moved to Washington, DC where she worked in the Signal Corps (Military Intelligence Division of the War Dept.) then moved to New Orleans where she met Dad.  She and her late husband of 49 years, Wilfred Crossman Vinet, made their home and raised five children in New Orleans. She was a resident of Slidell and loved living on the water, reading on her kindle and playing her computer games. She was a great cook, accomplished seamstress, and in her earlier years, she and Wilfred enjoyed gardening on their blueberry farm. She insisted on living in "the Middle" in Slidell so her children spread between Waveland, New Orleans, Slidell and Baton Rouge could easily visit. Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who were loved by family and many friends. She will be greatly missed by her children: Patty Lopez Granier, Dr. Marshall Vinet, Barbara Kinsey, Robert Vinet, and Kim Vinet Chetta (Walter) and her grandchildren: Adam Lopez (Amy), Alex Lopez (Heather), Andrew Lopez, Dr. Jeffrey Vinet, MD, Erica Artus, Bryan Kinsey, Stephanie Kinsey, Walter Chetta Jr. (Melanie), Lance Chetta (Laci) and Chris Chetta. She was the very proud great-grandmother of Maddie and Miles of Atlanta, GA, Carter and Cash of Fruita, CO, Brittany, Lance II, Brook, Walter III, William and Sarah (twins) and Anthony and Devin as well as great-great twin grandchildren, Jenna and Jamie. Peggy is also survived by her loving brother, William "Billy" Gantnier. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Sleeper and Harold Gantnier; a sister, Patricia Sissco and two brothers, Fee Gantnier and Vernon Gantnier.
