Our beloved Nelson went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, January 1, 2018. He is now walking on streets of gold. He was a graduate of Warren Easton High School Class of 1983. He was born and raised in New Orleans. He was a loving husband, father and friend and a former employee of Simon Hubig Pie Company and Rouses Supermarkets.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma J. Newman Miller; his grandparents, Leo and Estelle Newman; a beloved step-daughter, Ruthie Maloney; his mother and father-in-law, Elijah and Carol Pratt, and a sister-in-law, Janet Platt Trost. He is survived by his wife of three years, Gail Maloney-Miller; his father, Andrew John Miller Jr; his three brothers, Johnny, Kelly and Scott Miller; his sister, Tammy Miller; his four step-daughters, Christina and Danielle Glenn and Angel and Sara Maloney. He is also survived by his grandson, Abel who was the apple of his eye; a sister-in-law, Joyce Hasket; two brothers-in-law, Jeff Hasket and Fred Trost, his aunts, Phyllis Newman, Cora Dillman and Patsy Kinchen and his uncles, Clarence Dillman, Jerry Newman, Leo Newman and Richard Kinchen. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, friends and other family members. Nelson will be sadly missed by everyone who loved him.
Family, friends, co-workers from Hubig Pie and Rouses and classmates and teachers from Warren Easton Fundamental Senior High School are invited to pay their respects to the family on Friday, January 12, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am at Celebration Church, 2001 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausolelum located in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
