Manuel Charles Ramil Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, departed this life on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the age of 73. He leaves behind his wife, Lena Pizzolato Ramil; his children, Manuel Charles Ramil Jr. and Misty Ann Ramil; and two grandchildren, Jade and Sadie.
Manuel was born in New Orleans on December 17, 1943 to Frank Martin Ramil Sr. and Clare Wilbert. He is survived by and forever loved by his siblings: Aurora Ramil Closson (late, Johnny Guillot), Nathalie Ramil Lulei (Charles), Cyril Ramil (Pat), Marcia Ramil Curole (Eugene), and the late Frank Martin Ramil (Tee); and his in-laws: Joe Pizzolato, Mary Rita Pizzolato, and Vic Pizzolato.
Manuel was the owner of L and M Truck Service. As a young man, Manuel was an excellent athlete and baseball player as well as a skillful pool player. Later on he loved racing dirt track race cars. He was a competitor and won many races. His love of racing cars created wonderful memories with his family and was nicknamed “Mario” around the track.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Fleming Construction Company and their employees for all their support through the years.
Relatives, friends, and business associates are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until Mass time. Flowers are welcomed or contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or to the Susan G.
