Joseph Anthony Massa passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 20, 2017 at the age of 74. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Diane Beatson Massa. Proud and devoted father of Dominic Massa, Andrea Massa Comeaux (Chris) and Bobby Massa (Therese). Proud Paw Paw to Charles Joseph Comeaux, Adele Marie Massa, Audrey Helen Massa and Luca Joseph Massa. Brother of Emanuel Massa (Billie) and Frank Massa (Veronica). Also survived by his sisters-in-law Bonnie Beatson, Karen Beatson Houser and Robbin Beatson Fant (Andy), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Domenico Columbo Massa, and his mother, Stella Dazzo Massa. He was the son-in-law of the late Helen Abboud Beatson and Robert Beatson. Joe was born September 14, 1943 at Hotel Dieu in New Orleans, grew up in Lakeview and was a resident of Kenner since 1980. He attended Lakeview School, Beauregard Jr. High and graduated from Jesuit High School (class of 1961) where he was a proud member of the 1960 state championship football team. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University. He was vice president and co-owner of Control Technologies Inc., where he worked alongside his wife. They later worked together at Siemens Building Technologies. At both jobs, Joe mentored and taught dozens of future colleagues in temperature controls and building automation. He retired in 2003 and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, gardening, cooking, sharing stories of his Italian heritage and spending time with his Yellow Labs, Millie and Abby. He was a longtime member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 60.
Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral Mass in the chapel of Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at noon.
