Zoila Rodriguez

Zoila Rodriguez entered into a new life in Heaven on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at the age of 87.  She was a long time resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. Zoila was born in Chiquimula, Jocotan, Guatemala.  She was the beloved wife of the late Carlos Rodriguez. The couple settled in New Orleans in the early 1960's, where they raised their five children; Edgar (deceased), Lettie Rodriguez (Oscar), Ana Chavarria (Jose), Cesar Rodriguez, and Carolina Apostolidis. She was known as “Grandma” and ”Mami” to her 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, friends and their children.  She is survived by her sister, Rosalina Sandoval, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceeded in death by her parents Rafael Vides and Concepcion Casasola, her son Edgar, her sister Rubia Vides, and brother Solomon Vides.  Zoila loved travel, holidays and family get-togethers.  She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company.  Her energy was infectious. She was known for her beautiful smile, joy, and love for her family and friends.  She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.  Our family wishes to thank Notre Dame Hospice, and the staff at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare for their care and compassion shown to us all. 

Family and friends will gather at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metarie, LA on Wednesday, June 13th for Visitation from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
