William Albert LeBouef, Jr., age 79, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017. He was born in New Orleans to the late Audrey Borchers LeBouef and William A. LeBouef, Sr. and lived in Metairie for the past 52 years. Married to Gloria H. LeBouef for 59 years with whom he shared three children: Denean, Troy and William LeBouef, III. He was the proud grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of one. He was the owner of Corrugated Industries and Hercules Sheet Metal Inc. He was a former racehorse trainer at the Fair Grounds and many other tracks as well as a boxer for the New Orleans Athletic Club where he won many awards. Bill boxed in the 1957 Sugar Bowl, the Olympic Trials in 1958 and won best bout and best sportsmanship in the Punch Bowl. In addition, he received honors from the City of New Orleans for his contributions to the sport of boxing. He was also a charter member of the St. Bernard Antique Car Club where he won many awards for his antique and classic cars. He will be sadly missed by his family and the many people he helped along life’s way.
Services will be private. Interment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum located in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie.
