William Edward Flowers, Jr., also known as “Eddie”, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Marilyn Ello Flowers; his parents, William “Bill” Flowers and Evelyn Fuller Flowers of Birmingham, AL; and his brother-in-law, Irwin “Bud” Flowers of Lafayette, LA. Eddie is survived by his companion of 7 years, Joan G. Pellissier; his daughter, Sharon Flowers Boulet (Steve); Joan’s children: Brian Pellissier (Renee), Michelle P. Chiappetta (Dean), and Clay Pellissier (Kathleen); his granddaughter, Marissa Boulet; Joan’s grandchildren: Colette and Brett Pellissier, Vincent and Nicholas Chiappetta, and Allyson and Michael Pellissier; his sister-in-law, Mary Ello Thomas of Lafayette, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and caring neighbors.
Eddie was a graduate of Warren Easton High School. He enlisted in the Navy and served for 6 years as a boilerman on the USS Gyatt. He retired from Speedway after 30 years of service. A man of many talents, Eddie earned his pilot’s license for small craft, was an excellent Bass fisherman, and avid photographer. His other hobbies included world travel, refurbishing his 1965 Chevrolet pick-up truck, playing the organ and dancing to Big Band Music.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Thursday, January 17, 2019. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am with the service starting at 11:00 am followed by burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eddie’s name may be made to St. Anthony’s Gardens, 601 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 or at www.stanthonysgardens.org.
