Vilma Suyapa Cortez Zepeda

Vilma Suyapa Zepeda Cortez passed into the arms of her Savior while surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 15, 2021. She was the cherished wife of Jaime Enrique Zepeda for 27 years. She was the daughter of Margarita Matute and the late Victor M. Cortez; the devoted mother of Vilma Clarissa Darocha (Wenderson), Carlos Fernando Hernandez and Lucero Suyapa Zepeda and the doting grandmother of Andrea Clarissa and Michelle Sarai. She is also survived by six siblings: Noemy Cortes, Marcia Avila (Manuel), Victor Cortes (Nancy), Judith Padilla (Rafael) and Carlos Cortes (Norma) and Javier Cortes; six nieces, ten nephews and numerous other family members. She will also be missed by her church family at St. Jerome Catholic Church where she was involved as a Word proclaimer, choir member and part of the Renovación Carismática. Besides being with her family and at church, she enjoyed several hobbies such as gardening, sewing, singing and making candles.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
