Trinh Hue Quan died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, June 12, 2022 in Metairie, Louisiana. Trinh was born on February 8, 1925 in Saigon, Vietnam.
Trinh is preceded in death by her mother, her husband Nguon Kien Lam, son Hoang Truc Lam, and a son who died during childbirth. She is survived by her daughter Muoi Tam Quan (Tran Hue Duc), son Luong Chi Quan (Louisa), daughter Ngu Muoi Quan, daughter Katie Truong (Anh), stepson Truc Huy Lam (Karen), stepdaughter Dongmy Lam (Wayne), and stepdaughter Sandy Lau (Kwok Leung), fifteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Trinh was raised by her adopted mother, whom she loved very much. In 1946, she married Nguon Kien Lam, and they were married for 37 years. A devoted mother and homemaker, Trinh also worked in a local hospital laundering linens. As a result of the Vietnam War, many of Trinh’s family members resettled in the United States as refugees from the war. In 1992, Trinh immigrated to the U.S. to be reunited with most of her family.
For many years, Trinh was very independent while living in the New Orleans area. She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She also loved to watch soap operas and variety shows. Even in her 80s, she took long strolls to the local grocery store and local restaurants with friends. Trinh was never rich but was always extremely generous. She was very kind, loving, and forgiving. She enjoyed having her great-grandchildren play around her. She was always smiling and always enjoyed family gatherings.
Her kind heart and sweet smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service in celebration of her life on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 2pm at Chinese Presbyterian Church (2901 W Esplanade Ave., Kenner, LA 70065). A reception and time of visitation will follow immediately after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
