Thinh Dang

Carolo Boromeo Thinh Huyen Dang passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2019. He is survived by his faithful and devoted wife, Lang Thi Hoang Dang, with whom he recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on January 5, 2019. He is also survived by his children, Chuong Hoang Dang (Bich Nguyen) of Savannah, GA, Chau Minh Hoang Dang of Garden Grove, CA, and Chuyen Minh Hoang Dang Le (Tuyen Le) of New Orleans, LA; and grandchildren Bao An Hoang Dang, Bich An Hoang Dang, and Nguyen An Hoang Dang. He is preceded in death by his parents Huu Van Dang and Nhu Thi Kieu.
Mr. Dang was employed at Schwegmann Supermakets as a mechanic for 20 years before retiring as an electrician from Avondale Shipyard after 10 years. He was a dedicated parishioner of Mary Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church where he served as an Usher, and was also a member of the St. Martin’s Neighborhood Group; the Cursillo Organization, Hung Vuong Senior Group, Don Bosco Organization, Domus Dei Order. He was proud of his culture and served his country as a Naval Officer of South Vietnam from 1957-1975. He immigrated to the United States in 1975 after the fall of Saigon. Shortly thereafter, he was reunited with his wife and three children and New Orleans has been their domicile since.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001 and on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Mary Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church, 5069 Willowbrook Dr., New Orleans, LA 70129 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at Mary Queen of Vietnam Catholic Church. To respect the family’s wishes, please reserve mass intentions for the departed soul of Carolo Boromeo in lieu of flowers or monetary donations.
