Tribute

Stephenie “Hunny” Schuyler Pittman passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 70, after a brief battle with sarcoma cancer. She is predeceased by her treasured husband, Rodney. She is survived by two loving children, son Stephen Todd Pittman, his wife Amanda, and their children Garrett and Alex; and daughter Ridgely (Pittman) Myers, her husband Adam, and their children Connor and Addison. Hunny considered her grandchildren to be her greatest blessings. She is also survived by her sister Roberta Schuyler McMahon and her husband Don. She has numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Stephenie is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick Charles Jung, Jr. and Rubye Alice Barbre Jung. Teaching children was Stephenie’s passion. She was a lifelong educator, beginning her career in Jefferson Parish Public Schools before finding her home at St. Martin’s Episcopal School, where she served for 28 years educating children and later serving as a principal. Upon retirement from St. Martin’s, she continued tutoring children in all subjects. She had a gift for connecting with children and was loved by every child that met her. Stephenie had a passion for volunteering and would quickly “take the reins” to get the job done. She was a member of Kenner Presbyterian Church her entire life, where she served as an Elder and on many committees. She was President of the Friends Organization at Westminster Tower, among other leadership roles on various committees. Stephenie was also a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames XVII Century. Through her service, friends became family. Hunny was known for her fantastic cooking, especially among her family. Her hospitality, dedication, and love will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 11 AM. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 27 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Monday, January 28 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Garden of Memories. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
