Sarah D Woodard

On Sunday, February 3, 2019 Sarah Woodard passed away peacefully in Metairie, Louisiana at the age of 96 after visiting with many loved ones over several days.

She was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas and moved to the New Orleans area with her husband Oliver U. "Woody" Woodard, Jr. in 1942. They had five children, Nancy W. Werner (spouse Ed), David O. Woodard (Terry), Stephen F. Woodard (Nancy), Jane W. Robson (Ridgley) and J. Timothy Woodard (Laurie).  At the time of her death she had nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  

Sarah was passionate about many things including family, food, cooking, serving others, encouraging others, playing games and studying words.  

But the great and lasting joy of her life was her Lord and Savior who she met at a Billy Graham outreach in City Park in 1952. From that point on she studied His Word daily and shared her knowledge of His love with as many as she could including to many Sunday school classes as well as the homeless and hospitalized.  

She attended Mid-City Baptist Church for many years and then later Celebration Church.

There will be a celebration of Sarah's life from 10:00 until noon on Friday, February 8th at Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 followed by a short graveside service immediately thereafter.
