Ross Wilson McStay, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the age of 77. He is the devoted husband of 41 years to Donna LaCroix McStay. Proud father of Ross McStay, III (Amanda), Alyson Decourt (Chad), and the late Mason McStay. Loving grandfather of Theresa, Violet, and Ember McStay, Brianna Trentacosta, Carson Campeaux, and Brooklyn and Maci Decourt. Son of the late Ross Wilson McStay, Sr. and Georgie Mae Selma McStay. Also survived by his brothers, Edgar McStay (Peggy) and Wayne McStay (Jerry); his brother-in-law, Al LaCroix (Susan); sisters-in-law: Lynda LaCroix, Patsy LaCroix, and the late Jackie Steeg (C.J.); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ross was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He never met a stranger and was liked by all. We loved to tease him as he was an avid talker, whether with his family, friends, or customers. He was the owner of Ross’ Trading Post for 23 years. Before that he worked at Hotel Dieu and East Jefferson General Hospital as a Human Resources Administrator. His laughter was contagious and one of a kind. He had a great sense of humor; even while reading the Sunday comics, his laughter could be heard throughout the house. Oh, how we’ll miss that sound! He enjoyed being with family, going to car auctions, parties, riding in the Krewe of Jefferson on Mardi Gras Day, and an occasional Bloody Mary or cold beer. Until we meet again, we’ll cherish the many memories you left behind for us to smile about.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. New Orleans, LA 70119 on Friday, November 12, 2021. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 1:30 pm. Interment will be private at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Garden of Memories Funeral Home.
