Rosalie Gail Turley

July 25, 1944 ~ October 23, 2022 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Rosalie Marino Turley passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2022 in Metairie, Louisiana at the age of 78 years. Loving mother of Anthony Turley, Jr. (Lisa) and the late Kevin Turley. Cherished grandmother of Rachel and Caroline.  Also survived by a nephew and five nieces.  She was preceded in death by her former husband, Anthony Turley; her parents, Michael Joseph Marino and Catherine Dorothy Scavruzzo and her siblings, Joseph Michael Marino and Linda Marino Amato.
As known by many, “Gail” never met a stranger. She had a gift for making others feel loved and welcomed. With a view of the glass half-full, she was light-hearted, always found the best in others, loved to laugh and talk especially, when it was about Drew Brees and the Saints. She started her career as a hairdresser at Venus Beauty Salon and although she held many different job roles in-between, she continued to cut and style hair until her early 70’s for friends and family. Born in New Orleans, she had a true love for the city of New Orleans, serving as a New Orleans tour guide for many years.
Most notably, she continuously encouraged others to trust in the Lord. She loved telling others about their Guardian Angels, and she would not go anywhere without her guardian angel pin on her blouse. Gail was a long-time parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor parish starting in the mid 70’s. In her younger years, she was heavily involved in CYO and volunteered her time as a substitute homeroom moderator, which led to exciting stories of how the older children knew when Gail was there it was party-time with “no-rules applied.” Gail was a model of someone who truly embraced the unknown without fear by trusting in the Lord’s Plan. She made many life-long friends through the St. Jude Society at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Cleary Playground, St. Edward the Confessor, Whitney Place, Metairie Manor, and by participating in one of her favorite feast days by volunteering at St. Joseph Day Altars around the city.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001. Visitation prior to the Mass will begin at 10:00AM.
The family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Oaks Living Center and Tulane Abdominal Transplant Clinic who were instrumental in her care.  In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to one of the societies she was a member of:  St. Jude Society at Mary Magdalen Church, 6425 West Metairie Avenue, Metairie, Louisiana 70003 or St. Ann National Shrine, 4940 Meadowdale Street, Metairie, Louisiana 70006.
