Richard John Sigg Jr.

Richard John Sigg, Jr., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Slidell Memorial Hospital, in Slidell, Louisiana, amidst landfall of Hurricane Ida, 16 years after surviving Hurricane Katrina. He was born in Evansville, Indiana and raised in Harahan, Louisiana.  Richard was the son of the late Richard John Sigg, Sr. and Edith Bougere Sigg. Brother of the late Diane Sigg Cambre and father to the late Richard John Sigg, III. Richard is survived by his two devoted and loving children, Christine Sigg Vespa of Denver, Colorado and Shane Paul Sigg of Pearland, Texas, and his son-in-law, Marco Vespa. Richard is also survived by his six grandchildren: Dawn Marie Sigg, Braxton Ryan Sigg, Ames Matteo Vespa, Emilia Clementine Vespa, Selah Clara Vespa, and Camila Adele Vespa.  He is also survived by his former wife of 34 years, Carol Morgan Sigg.  
After serving his county for four years in the US Marine Corps. and receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1968, Richard enjoyed a successful 30-year career with Western Southern Life until his retirement at age 55. Upon Richard’s retirement, he enjoyed his time playing golf, traveling on road trips, and enjoying family and friends. He will be dearly missed. 
A brief Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001.
