Richard Jack Kesler departed this world on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at home after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Verna May Bordelon Kesler, his daughter Debra Kesler Richards, his son-in-law Jon A. Richards and two grandsons: Jon Patrick Richards and Matthew Kesler Richards. He was preceded in death by his father Jennings Kesler and his mother Felicie Giurintano Kesler.
A hard and dedicated worker, Richard ran Kesler Auto Electric, Inc. on Airline Highway for many years with his brother Jimmy after their father's death. Richard, along with Verna, continued operating the heavy-duty truck parts store after his brother's retirement. Many a person browsed through Kesler's over the 61 years that he worked there, looking for that special odd or end to make their project work. Always ready with free advice and help on how to fix mechanical problems or to install a part, Richard was a fixture at the store. Generations of families came through Kesler's doors over the years. We will sorely miss him and carry his memory in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2020 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Interment will be private in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum located in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required.
