Rene G. Barbier

Rene G. Barbier passed away after a long illness on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of 64 years to Beverly Schumacher Barbier. Devoted father of Melanie Newport (George), Suzanne Trice (John), Christopher Barbier (Darlene), and Jeanne Bourgeois (Brian). Loving grandfather of Meghan Nettles, Kevin Trice, Andrew Trice, Elise Bourgeois, John Michael Bourgeois, and the late Heather Elizabeth Newport. Son of the late Elenore McMillen Barbier and Louis Barbier, Sr. Brother of the late Louis Barbier, Jr. and Donald Joseph Barbier.
Rene was a longtime resident of Metairie, LA and a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1951 until 1953. He retired from Eastern Airlines after 38 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated or donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
