Ramona F. Bovia

Ramona Fischer Bovia, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Mandeville, Louisiana on March 15, 2021.

Ramona was born in New Orleans and resided in Mandeville for the last 48 years.

She was the daughter of Joseph Fischer and Josephine Saladino Fischer Cooper.

She was preceded by her husband, Leon Bovia, Jr. from Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

Ramona had a 25-year career with Bell South Telephone Company. She and Leon enjoyed square dancing and traveling, including a road trip through Alaska. She was also preceded by her sister, Clara Sammartino. Ramona was the mother of three children - Ramona LaFontaine (Steve), Carolyn Maier (Robert) and Leon Bovia, III (Suzi). Ramona had five grandchildren - Monique LaFontaine, Tracy and Kevin Bovia, Duane and Julie Maier; and 11 great grandchildren - Cole Mohr and Jami Douglas; Lacey and Kevin Bovia; Mason, Hayden and Michael Maier; and Jacob, Elise, Anna Kate and Vivian Lucas.

Services will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana Thursday, March 18, 2021. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by celebration of Mass. To offer condolences or order flowers please visit Gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.
