Rabel Vidrine

Rabel Vidrine passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2018 surrounded by his wife and all of his girls. He was the second eldest of five children born to John Vidrine and Ida Brunet Vidrine in Ville Platte, LA on May 23, 1924. He is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Mabel Ducote Vidrine; his three daughters, Pamela Galliano and husband Wayne, Brenda Villio and husband Robert and Diane Uhle. He was the brother of Helen V. Doucet and husband, Allen, Allie V. Goodson and the late Thilman Vidrine and Lee Amma Fontenot.
He was Pawpaw to eight grandchildren: Chad and Jeremy Galliano, Monique Sonnier, Jessica Summers, Melissa Mattingly, Alicia McCarthy, Lauren Cooper and Christina Uhle. He was Great Pawpaw to eight great-grandchildren: Johnny, Desiree’, Olivia, Grayson, Max, Leighton, Miles, and Hayley. Also survived by Matthew Uhle and Keith Ventura.
He was a self-employed, hard-working man for over 60 Years. Rabel loved spending time with his family and friends. He was always the life of the party. There would always be a smile on his face, and he loved a good time. He never met a stranger that he did not like. He loved to watch the auto races (“the zoom-zoom”), the horse races, Saints Football and to drink a beer or two.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Rabel’s caregivers: Valerie Williams, the staff of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home and St. Catherine’s Hospice.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate the Funeral Mass at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
