Peggy Cherry

Peggy Fabre Cherry, 62, of Kenner, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, 2022. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Peggy is survived by her husband of almost 41 years, James Cherry, Jr., whom she met while in college. Her three surviving children are Jamie Cherry, Nicholas Cherry (Melissa), and Jenna Brehm (Stephen). Her five surviving grandchildren are Odin Rex Cherry and Josephine, Louisa, Kateri, and Zelie Brehm. She is also survived by her father, Fred Fabre, Jr and her 3 siblings: Fred Fabre, III (Joan), Judy Kelley (Ronald), and Patricia Tillman (Donald) as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothea “Patsy” Fabre and 2 grandchildren: Xavier and Gianna Brehm.

Peggy was born March 27, 1960 in New Orleans and graduated from Grace King High School in 1978. She graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelors of Science in medical technology in 1982. As an employee of Ochsner Health for over 37 years, she served as a medical technologist.

She enjoyed watching Judge Judy, staying at hotels, and taking bubble baths. Peggy took delight in cooking for her family, and she regretted not getting to serve jury duty.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the visitation from 1 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr. in Metairie. A Mass will be held immediately following visitation. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
