Oliver Roy Lambert Jr.

April 6, 1952 ~ March 7, 2023 (age 70) 70 Years Old

Tribute

Dr. Oliver Roy Lambert, Jr., born April 6th, 1952, passed away Tuesday morning, March 7, 2023 at the age of 70 surrounded by those who loved him. Roy is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 51 years, Barbara Coppersmith Lambert. He was a proud father to his son, Oliver Roy Lambert III, and daughter-in-law, Raquel Lambert. He was the best Papa Bear to his daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth Lambert, and future son-in-law, Philip Flettrich, IV. He was a loving grandfather to his granddaughters, Valentina and Penelope Lambert, who affectionately called him "Bear." He was a beloved brother to his sister, Judeth Elise Lambert Brooks and brother-in-law, John Brooks, and godfather to his niece, Kelsey AnElise Brooks, and uncle to his nieces, Jeanne Brianna Brooks and Jennifer Coppersmith Nominati and nephews, Mitchell Donovan Brooks and John Paul "JP" Coppersmith. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Oliver Roy Lambert, Sr. and Dr. Adele Rogers Lambert.

Roy was an alum of Catholic High and Louisiana State University and graduated from Tulane University Medical School in 1979, where he was a member of Phi Chi. He then opened his own pediatric practice, Pediatric Medical Clinic, in Laplace, and he served the families in the community for over 30 years. His dedication to his patients inspired his daughter to pursue her doctorate degree to continue her father's legacy.

Outside of his medical practice, Roy's entrepreneurial spirit led him to create numerous businesses. Whether it was selling seeds and flares door-to-door, operating a present delivery business dressed as Santa Claus, writing concert reviews for a national magazine, buying a newspaper in which he wrote movie reviews and the feature cartoon, to creating light shows for concerts, Roy enjoyed the actual creation of a new idea. Several of these businesses developed into larger companies, such as his light show, which grew into a full service entertainment agency that he and his wife Barbara, who were partners in business and in life, managed for 30 years. He also started a party rental business, Bounce World, which he and Barbara operated and is now owned and operated by his son. Roy's passion for business inspired his son to continue his father's legacy.

As a history buff, Roy loved taking family vacations where he took the backroads to see as much of America as possible. He enjoyed stopping in small towns and exploring the interesting museums and shops. He also loved finding new additions to his Christmas village. Roy always knew how to make everyone laugh and enjoyed sharing his wisdom with his children. As an Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, Roy enjoyed the outdoors, nature, and camping, which he shared with the whole family. And most of all, Roy loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

Family, friends, and the community are invited to the visitation, which will be Tuesday, March 14th at 10am at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 1025 Napoleon Avenue, New Orleans followed by Mass at 11am.
