Mirtha Eugenia Blanco Saborío began her journey into heaven on May 24 year of our Lord 2018. She courageously battled cancer for three years alas succumbing to it. She was 65.
Mirtha Eugenia Blanco Saborío was the eldest of five children born to Marcos Felix Blanco (June 17, 1918 – September 24, 1979) and Maria Elena Saborío de Blanco (November 13, 1929 – February 3, 1983) on February 24, 1953 in Golfito, Costa Rica. In 1960, at the age of 7, the family moved to San Jose, Costa Rica and nine years later at the age of 16 the family of seven moved to New Orleans, LA. In her formative years she embraced her dual culture never forgetting her origins and loving memories of her native land. After the loss of both parents, she took the moral reins that her parents passed on to her and her siblings remaining faithful to God Almighty and family. Family is what her life was dedicated to and served as her strength. Mirtha appreciated and loved the fine things in life, music, art, etiquette and tradition, but mostly friendships as testimony to the countless friends and family members from afar that visit New Orleans to see her. She served as second mother to not only her younger siblings, but also to her brother’s beloved children.
Mirtha, is survived and lovingly remembered by her sisters Maria, Rocio and Rebeca Blanco, and her only brother Marcos Blanco, and his wife Lela Mitchel Blanco, nephews Derek (Eunnym Cho-Blanco) Ian (Liz Wiltcher-Blanco) and niece Helena Blanco.
