Michael Joseph Vernace

Michael “Ace” Vernace gained his wings on Monday, August 16, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with COVID. Michael was born on March 12, 1963 in New Orleans. He was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Vernace. He was the beloved husband of Dawn Monaghan Vernace and the devoted father of Codi Danielle Vernace. He leaves behind his loving in-laws, William and Kathy Monaghan, two sisters-in-law, Danielle Monaghan Haydel (Gregory Haydel) and Darlene Monaghan Brenan (Gregory Brenan II). He also leaves behind his four nieces and one nephew: Abagail Haydel, Amelia Haydel, Adeline Haydel, Kristian Brenan, and Gabriel Brenan.
Mike was a fun-loving, caring and generous man who was willing to give anyone the shirt off his back. He was an avid golfer and loved to play poker with his friends. His life’s enjoyment came from following his daughter around with softball and attending any events that involved his nieces or nephew. Family was everything to him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, August 22, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Masks are mandatory.
Interment will be private in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.
