On 5/22/2022 our beloved brother, uncle and friend Michael David Callahan passed away peacefully at Heart of Hospice from cancer, age 61. Born in New Orleans, LA on 7/24/60 and raised in Metairie, LA. Michael worked at Blue Diamond Kiln Company building Kilns until he retired. Michael had a love for his family, friends and furbabies that he treated as his children. He loved to watch football and was a big Saints fan. He had an uncanny ability to remember the dates/times of current football schedules and scores and plays of past Saints games.
Michael also enjoyed shooting pool with his brothers and nephews and sharing stories of his childhood and growing up with his niece and family. Michael had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need, never expecting anything in return. He was strong and courageous and fought until the end. He said his brother and one of his best friends Mickey was a fighter who he admired, but Michael was also a fighter and admired by his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his loving parents, Lawrence “Mickey” Sr. and Rita Callahan; Brothers, Lawrence “Mickey” Callahan Jr. and Gerald (Theresa) Naffe; And nephew, Ian Michael Callahan.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his sisters, Jacquelyn Callahan, Miriam (Richard) Miller, Catherine Tardo, MaryJo Callahan, Trudy Bertrand, TerriLynn Callahan, and Susan (Richard Sr.) Dieck; Sister-in-law, Denise Callahan; His twin brother, Martin “Marty” Callahan and brother Ellis Callahan; His nieces and nephews who loved him and will miss him dearly, Sherri Pierce, Tyler Tardo Jr., Jennifer Hollis, Mickey “Micko” Callahan, Richard Dieck Jr, Louviena Glover, Patricia Toler, Leigh Callahan, Jill Golden, Marissa Dieck and Tony Goodin; As well as a host of great nieces and nephews.
