Martha Jane Gallaher Butters, was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 4, 1934 to the late Carl Acton Gallaher and the late Hazel Smith Gallaher. She passed to a new life in Heaven on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the age of 83. Martha moved to New Orleans with her parents as a young child, where she was raised in Lakeview. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for 69 years. She is survived by her son Carl Edward Butters, his wife Jerry Ann Butters, and survived by her son William Porter Butters-Chambers and his wife Carol Ann Chambers and also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Pritchett, Jeremy Pritchett, his wife Becky and Amanda Butters and also survived by other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and her St. Luke’s family. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, June 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, La and the visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the care that she received from the staff of Colonial Oaks Living Center.
