Loretta Lucy Fabre passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021. She was born in Lucy, LA, grew up in Donaldsonville, LA, and spent her adult life in the Metairie/New Orleans area. She is survived by her sister, Doris and her brother, Harold. She left behind many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews: Pam, Traci (Michael), Beth (Steven), Julie (Colin), Nick (Chelsea); Paula (Bill), Jeremy (LeeAnn), Courtney (Mark), Cody, Kirk (Deanie), Madison, Maximillian; Johnny (Annie), Grace, Mary (Rick), Kate, Mason, Allen (Kimberly), Tyler, Nathaniel, Landon, Cindy, Angus, Rachel, Christine and Ben. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melanie DeBautte Fabre and Nemour Fabre; her brother, Lloyd Fabre; sisters, Lorraine Fabre and Lois Fabre Gwin; nephew, Charles “Chuck” Gwin; niece, Patricia “Patty” Sue Gwin Namias; niece, Susan Fabre; great nephews, Adam and Ian Fabre; and great nephew, Troy Deutschmann. Loretta was always young at heart with a playful spirit. She thoroughly enjoyed being right in the middle of any playful mischief in which the children of the family might be engaged. She was a sports fanatic, with an athletic tendency throughout her life, participating as a team member in bowling, water skiing, running marathons and tennis to name a few. Astrology was also a source of interest to her as a pastime. Her favorite holidays were Mardi Gras (carnival) and Christmas, but she loved and looked forward to time spent with her family. She will always be remembered for all the love and laughter she brought with her everywhere she went, and all the fun that was had with her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Shrine or the Abandoned Children’s Fund.
