Tribute

Lois G. Jacobi, age 94, a resident of Kenner, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 19, 2021. Born in 1927 in a little house nestled in the sugar cane fields of Choupic, LA, Lois enjoyed a loving childhood with her parents Avie Gros and Agnes Aysen and her brothers Elmo, Neil, and Leroy. As a young woman, she moved to New Orleans where she met the love of her life, Louis Jacobi. They were married for 44 years, until his death in 1992. This loving couple was blessed with 5 children: Eugene (Debbie), James (Dawn), Michael (Jane), Thomas (Kelly), and Lisa (Chris Wattigney). A thoughtful MawMaw who never missed a birthday, holiday, graduation, or wedding, Lois absolutely adored her 15 grandchildren: Jamie, Kara (Doug), Eric (Kelly), Kaitlin (Dustin Keller), Matthew, Jesse (Kathleen), Nicole, Lindsey (Jeff Sneed), Catherine, Caroline, Kristen, Chana, John, Joshua (Hunter), and Halie (Chelsea). Most recently, Lois enjoyed doting on her 19 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Aveline, Emmie, Lucie, Caleb, Savannah, Lucas, Baylei, TJ, Payten, Alexis, Callie, Lani, Gabby, Makayla, Aiden, Joshua, Ryleigh, and Jaxon.

A devout Catholic and compassionate spirit, Lois inspired goodness, character, and charity in her children, family, and friends. As a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Lois dedicated many hours to the Mother’s Club, the school fair, and the Altar Society. Lois was also a talented seamstress who hand-embroidered traditional baptismal chrisoms and personalized Christmas stockings. She was a masterful cook who delighted in treating her family and friends to delicious peanut butter fudge and oatmeal cookies. Lois’s sunny personality and contagious laugh were endearing to all, as was her passion for Kismet, Canasta, Pokeno, Hot Roll slots, and all games that kept her mind sharp.

Lois’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mrs. Ora Duncan who so lovingly cared for her in these last months. The family would also like to thank the personnel at Notre Dame Hospice for their kindhearted support during this difficult time.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lois’s life during a Mass of Christian Burial at the Garden of Memories on Saturday, July 31 at 11 A.M. Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. until Mass time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity in Lois’s name.
