Lita Gravois Rooney

Lita Gravois Rooney passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Michael J. Rooney, Sr. Loving mother of Michael J. Rooney, Jr., Patrick J. Rooney (Anita), Mary Lee Rooney, and the late Laurie Stubbs and Elizabeth Hart. Grandmother of Christian Rooney, Michael L. Rooney, Kara Ostendorf, Paul Rooney, Robbie Stubbs, Bryan Stubbs, David Rooney, Diana Balfoort, Carly Wall and 14 great-grandchildren. Daughter of the late Sam and Anne Gravois. Sister of Eddie Gravois, and the late Lois Kaveski, Rose Machado, Mark Gravois, and William Gravois.
Lita was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of River Ridge, LA. She was a social worker and teacher for JPPSS Special Education and worked at Lighthouse for the Blind where she helped build the radio for the blind (WRBH). She owned Loving Hands consignment shop and volunteered at several hospitals.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a Mass starting at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
