Lawrence Blades

Lawrence Raymond Blades (Larry) passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 17, 2021 at the age of 80.

He was born July 13, 1940 in New Orleans, La. He was a loving father of 5, Lisa Bivalacqua, Lori Mulkey (Shelton), Lynn Horne (Gregg), Larry Blades Jr., and Landyn Willard Blades; Grandfather of Lynn Mapp Jr., Shelton Mulkey IV, Katelyn Mulkey, Casandra Mulkey, Gregg Horne Jr., Mark Horne, Stephen Horne and Ashley Horne; Great-Grandfather of 6; Brother of Margaret Plaisance.

Larry was a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Metairie for the majority of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Earl Blades and Elda Mary Jambois Blades, his son, Landyn Willard Blades and his granddaughter, Nicole Lynette Bivalacqua.

Larry served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed working for his family business, Blades Cleaners and was a member of United Cab Company. Later in life he was the owner and operator at Triple A Trucking Company until retirement. He loved owning and training his racehorses. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend mass at St. Ann Church, 3601 Transcontinental Drive, Metairie, La. 70006 on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at The Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, La. 70001.
