Kenneth Myers

Kenneth Myers passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at the age of 79. He married Geraldine Holmes in September of 1960 and were blessed with two sons, Kenneth Wilfred Myers and Stephen Owen Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Cora Bell Myers; two sisters, Florine Norwood and Corrine McDuffey and two brothers, Troy Myers and Roosevelt Myers, Jr. He is also survived by and will be missed by a caring niece, Shirley Gentry and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kenneth was born in Hazelhurst, MS and attended the public schools of MS before moving to New Orleans as a teenager to find employment. Always a hard worker and ambitious, he began working on the river front which he did for many years before becoming a truck driver for Louisiana Industries and Jancke Industries. As time passed, he became the owner of Myers and Sons Trucking and later retired from Beverly Industries as an independent trucker. Kenneth was baptized at an early age and was an ordained deacon of Greater St. James Baptist Church until it’s destruction during Hurricane Katrina.
Relatives and friends of the family may call on Friday, June 1, 2018 after 12:00 noon at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow services in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
