Judith Desselle Schurr

Judith "Judy" D. Schurr, a resident of Mandeville, LA and former resident of Violet, LA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the age of 77. She was born on March 2, 1941 in New Orleans, LA and graduated from Alcee Fortier High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd George Desselle and Lola Bordelon Desselle. A devoted and loving wife to the late Leo A. Schurr, Jr. and an amazing mother to Tracy Vedros Casler (Gary Casler) and Beth Ann Phillips. She was also a loving grandmother to Blake Alton Casler, Brandon Aaron Phillips and Morgan Amelia Phillips. She is also survived by her sister, Paula Durr (Eddie); nieces: Danielle Durr Charrier (Kevin), Christine Durr McHughes (Sean), and the late Rebecca Christine Durr; and great nephews: Ross, Kyle, Kaleb, Cade and Jace.
Judy loved cooking, spending time with her family, as well as Mardi Gras parades and balls. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling, especially to Disney World and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Her kind and loving heart made everyone around her happy and she lived to do things for her friends and family. She was employed by French Market Homestead and with Standard Mortgage Company until she retired in August 2005.
Visitation will take place at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001 on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm with interment immediately following in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
