John L. “Jack” Parr, a retired accountant, notary public and tax consultant, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. He was 92. Mr. Parr was born in New Orleans and lived in LaPlace for many years. He attended Soule College and Tulane University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII who served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club of Moisant and a parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rita W. Parr; a daughter, Pamela Jones (Kip) of Tulsa, OK; a daughter-in-law, Verna Anderson; a stepson, Mark Anderson (Julie) of Fairfield, CA; seven grandchildren: James, Aaron, Jeff, Jennifer, Laura, Russell and Ryan and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Mire Parr and John Parr; two sisters, Agnes Parr King and Eloise Parr Soleto; a stepson, James Anderson, Sr. and a grandson, Zackery.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th Street in LaPlace, LA on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose, LA.
