John Ned Mayeux

John Ned Mayeux, age 79, of Metairie La., passed away on March 18, 2023. Ned was born on July 25, 1943 in Plaucheville, La.

After graduating from Plaucheville High School in 1961 he moved to New Orleans. While working at a bank, he put himself through college graduating from Loyola University. He then went on to work in the oil and gas industry as an accountant until he retired. In 1967 he married Deanna Travasos and 1 year later they welcomed their son, Douglas John Mayeux.

Ned was preceded in death by his parents, Curly and Beatrice Mayeux; brothers, Fred and Clyde Mayeux; and sisters, Gloria Plauche and Marlene Strode. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Deanna Travasos Mayeux, son Douglas John Mayeux, and granddaughter Lauren Mayeux. Also survived by his brother James (Dickey) Mayeux and sisters, Lou Anna Evans, Janice Goudeau, and Sandra (David) Dours.

Ned often bragged about his son Doug, and granddaughter, Lauren. He enjoyed seeing Doug sing on stage and Lauren compete in barrel racing at rodeos. He loved dancing with his wife Deanna. He also got great joy from sitting on his porch talking to his neighbors and friends as they walked by or pulled up a chair to visit. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001.
