Jerry Crescent Ledet went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 87. He was the former husband of Barbara Boudreau Wiltz Ledet and Sally Viguerie Ledet. Father of Brian Paul Ledet (Michelle Remont), J. Madisson Ledet (Donna Vidrine), Lynne Ledet Klibert (Henry Klibert) and Stephen Andrew Ledet (Maria Cangemi). Pops of Ellen Wiltz Satterly, Beth Freeman Stanard (Dave), Michael Wiltz (Connie), Bonnie Fairbanks, Holly Davis (Byron), Lawrence Wiltz (Peggy) and their children. Poppee of William, Elizabeth, Anna, Katherine, Adam, Diana and Bethani. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Loretta “Molly” Marcomb, a nephew, Ricky Ledet and two nieces, Susan Ledet and Tara Raymond. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Francis Ledet and Aglai Melancon Ledet and a brother, Jimmy “Mickey” Ledet. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Badoeing Strait. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1957 and his Master’s of Science from Louisiana State University in 1966. He was an educator for 28 years in the Lafourche Parish Public School System teaching at Lockport High School and the newly established Central Lafourche High School that he was instrumental in forming. He later served as principal of Larose Middle School. He had a passion for and love of flying and became a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He also enjoyed flying his plane from the air strip behind his home. Jerry was a devout Catholic his entire life and was a parishioner of St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church. For the past year and a half, he was an active senior at the Thomas C. Laughlin Jefferson Senior Center, “the Pink House”, and made many friends and memories during his time spent there.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday evening, October 30, 2018 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie from 5 – 7 pm and on Wednesday morning, October 31, 2018 from 10 – 11am at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church, 7100 Jefferson Hwy. in Harahan. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am at the church. Interment will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Larose, LA at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred.
