Janine De Los Angeles Amort

On November 14, 2022 Janine Amort, daughter of Norman and Joanne Amort, passed away after a brief illness at the age of 73. Janine was born in Matagalpa, Nicaragua and in 1971, after completing her education in Nicaragua, she moved with her family to Metairie, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Joanne Amort, and her nieces, Kimberly Delgado and Maria Eugenia Amort. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her sisters, Sandra (Mike) Maynard, Dianne (René) Delgado, and her brothers, Robert (Melanie), Norman (Kathy) and Steven (Laura) Amort and all of her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Janine deeply loved her church, her family, and her many friends, especially her friends at Oak Alley Plantation and at Brandi’s Hope. She loved all animals and her greatest joy was in taking care of her many fur bags (pets) over the length of her life. Janine will forever be remembered for her strength, gentleness, kindness and unconditional love.
A mass will be celebrated in her memory on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Garden of Memories in Metairie, Louisiana, with Father Joseph Tran presiding at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janine’s memory can be made to your local animal shelter, or to Brandi’s Hope, 615 4th Street SW, Magee, MS 39111.
