Margaret Janet Stanich

February 14, 1935 ~ May 13, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Janet V. Stanich of Metairie, LA peacefully spread her angel wings surrounded by family in the early hours of Saturday, May 13, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Angelo Victor Stanich and the mother of Dorothy “Toto” (Norman III) Hingle, Charles (Roxanne) Stanich, Mary Stanich, and the late Joseph Stanich. Janet always put her family before herself. She’s known for loving everyone as if they were her own family and adopted James and Alba Allen, calling them her ‘bonus children’. Janet was an amazing grandmother to Nicholas Stanich, Chase, Catelyn, and Cade Stanich, Elizabeth (Scott) Lacy, and the late Tiffany Allen and great-grandmother to Connor Lacy. The daughter of the late Dorothy N. Voeghtly, Janet grew up in Johnstown, PA. She was raised with her sister and four brothers: the late Patricia (Gerry) Lampe, the late Charles “Skip” Voeghtly, Robert (Evelyn) Voeghtly, the late Donald Voeghtly, Ronald (Christine) Voeghtly and her cousin Arlene (James) Seaschultz. Many other cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors were blessed to have known her love over the years. As a young woman, Janet worked as a seamstress in a factory in Pennsylvania. Later, she moved to Manhattan, where she was the Head of Housekeeping at the Leo House in New York City. She ultimately followed her passion for children and became the Director of Childcare Services at Kiddie Kingdom in Metairie, LA, where she worked for over 10 years after settling in the New Orleans area. She then worked for Hallmark Card Company as a member of the installation team until she retired in 2012. Janet was a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church for over 30 years. She was a beautiful soul with a heart of gold and she will forever be deeply missed.
