James “Jim” Michael Marchal of Kenner Louisiana passed away August 14, 2017 at East Jefferson General Hospital of an acute illness surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Jim was born on January 23, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Doris (Carroll) Marchal and the late Emmett John Marchal. Jim adored his family; he was a beloved husband to Karen (Lund) Marchal for 36 years and a loving father to Dr. Kristin Marchal, Michael Marchal, and Brandon Marchal. He is survived by his siblings Ronald Marchal of Richmond, Virginia and Lisa Marchal Ohler of Gonzales, Louisiana. His brother Gary Marchal and sister Judy Bealer predecease him.
Jim was a graduate of St. Charles Borromeo High School, Class of 1977. He was a member of National Elevator Industry (NEI) Local #16 and a well-respected elevator technician for 40 years. Jim was passionate about his profession and an expert in his field. He developed many great relationships with union brothers, co-workers, and clients throughout his career. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.
Jim had a charming and endearing smile with a gift of making people around him feel comfortable and admired. He cherished time spent with family and close personal friends. Jim had a knack of fixing anything and generously shared his handyman abilities with others. Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending long weekends in Grand Isle. His hobbies were riding dirt bikes and building and flying remote control airplanes. He was a master of the crawfish boil. His corny sense of humor was appreciated by those who loved him most.
Friends, relatives, church members and NEI Local #16 brothers are invited to a celebration of Jim’s life on Saturday, August 26, 1017 at the Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA at 1:00 pm and the visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time.
