James Christopher Matthews

James Christopher “Sparky” Matthews passed away on June 18, 2021 at the age of 51. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Gina Matthews and beloved daughter, Elizabeth Catherine Matthews and his fur babies, Luka and Mafia. He is preceded in death by his parents James C. Matthews Jr. and Charmaine Haldane Matthews and late, grandparents, Thomas and Doris Haldane, Doris Matthews; son-in-law to late, Patricia A. LeBlanc.

James is also survived by his brothers Craig Matthews (Denise), Curtis Matthews (Juli), their child Gabby, Chad Matthews (Cindy), godchild, Cortnie and Brother-in-law, Larry Wayne; Aunt Cathy and Uncle Ron Navarro. He was the Godfather of Landon Paul Smith and Valor Sosa; Uncle to Gray Gervais and Fable Matthews. Also survived by Gina’s family, Tara Kirsch Gervais, Natalie Kirsch Hooks, Ronald Kirsch, late, Eugene Taormina and Jeanne Taormina; Dear friends, Irina Reinhardt and David Stevens.

James served for the New Orleans Police Department for five years and retired as a Detective with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Much thanks to all his Doctors and Nurses at Fresenius Kidney Care. Simone, his nurse, who he loved dearly. To his buddy and partner in crime, Donald Cannatella, he’s watching you. To his other partners, Ralph Saks, Lisa, Roxanne and many others, he loved you all. To all his friends at Sweet Things… He loved you all..
