Jacqueline Chaperon Raftery
Born on December 30, 1922 in Orleans, France. Married Patrick H. Raftery, Jr. on July 18, 1945 at the end of World War II and came to America as a War Bride. They had 4 children – Ricky, Mimi. Jackie and Michele. Ricky went home to the Lord in 1989. (RIP) She learned to speak English by first, listening to the Soap Operas on the radio, then later watching the TV Soap Operas. She was the mother of 4, the grandmother of 6 and the great-grandmother of 12. Mrs. Raftery was a French teacher at St. Francis Xavier School for about 20 years. She never learned to drive, so we believe that she’s probably gone millions of miles on foot. She enjoyed being part of the senior clubs at St. Francis Xavier and making bus trips with them. In her earlier years she enjoyed socializing with all of her “French Lady Friends” and later in her senior years, her great joy was going to the gambling casinos, and playing the slot machines on the free coupon that the Casino would send her and walking out having made a profit on the trip. It was her free fun. As she approached the pearly gates her joy was remembering her childhood days with her maman & papa in France. It is our deep prayer that she is finally reunited with her parents in heaven. Jackie went home to the Lord on February 7, 2020 at 97 years old.
Rest in Peace, Mama/Grandmere!
