Ivin "Evie" Williamson, a longtime resident of Metairie, LA got her wings Friday night, July 9, 2021 after losing a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 62.
She was born September 25, 1958 in Santa Barbara, Honduras to Priscila Orellana de Reyes and Jose Moises Reyes. She arrived in New Orleans in 1965 and went to St. Joseph Catholic Church and School. She attended Riverdale High School and then the University of New Orleans to prepare for admission to Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, LSU Health Sciences Center where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. Soon after, she went to work for East Jefferson General Hospital in the blood lab where she was happily employed for over 30 years.
She was a very kind, gentle, loving and compassionate person who was always willing to extend a helping hand. One of her favorite pastimes was dancing with her line-dancing group of friends. She enjoyed traveling and most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her parents; her husband Mike; three sons, David, Brian and Matthew; her sisters and brothers: Ruth, Xiomara (Edward), Mildred (Jorge), Moises Eduardo (Miriam), Marlon David (Carla), Jose Rene (Reina) and her uncle, Leonel Orellana and his wife Maria, Irma and Aleyda (Kazuki) and many other beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her dear beloved aunt/mother "Nana", Carmen L. Orellana.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 4 - 6 PM. The Funeral Mass will begin at 6:00 PM. She will be laid to rest with her "Nana" in Garden of Memories Cemetery in a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to The Sisters Servants of Mary at 5001 Perlita Street New Orleans, LA 70122; phone 504- 282-5549.
