Henrietta Frances Gelder Victor passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 1, 2021 at the age of 86. She was born in New Orleans on February 5, 1935. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and attended Loyola University to pursue her passion for music. After her graduation, she played the trumpet professionally with bands in the New Orleans area. She was also a director of grammar and high school bands, and taught private music lessons to many people in her community as she spread her lover of music to all. Later in her life, she was a member of the Jefferson Parish Community Concert Band, and the American Legion Post 175 on Metairie Road where she would continue to perform. She also went to medical school and graduated as a nursing assistant. She worked very hard and studied diligently to make good grades. It was one of her greatest personal accomplishments. She truly enjoyed working with each of her patients, and she left her indelible mark on all of them. She was also a mobile and marine operator for 20 years with Bellsouth in New Orleans and a proud demo lady at Sam’s Club. She had many passions including reading, helping others, and baking. She particularly enjoyed making a St. Joseph’s altar every March. As a devoted Catholic, Henrietta was an active member of the Lay Carmelites at St. Dominic Church. Her family is very proud of all her accomplishments, and she will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Louis Gelder and Catherine Lena Tripoli; her brother, Harold Gelder Jr.; her late husband, Adrian J. Victor, Jr. and her grandson, Jonathan Victor.
She is survived by her sister Carol and her husband Raymond Morris; her son Adrian and his wife Theresa; her son Harold and his wife Kelly; her son Michael; her daughter DeeDee Rodriguez; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at St. Clement of Rome Church, 4317 Richland Avenue, Metairie, LA, 70002. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by the Funeral Mass. Masks are required. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery no. 3 at a later date.
