Helen and her family were some of the first parishioners of St. Christopher the Martyr Church Parish. Since 1965, Helen has been very active as a parishioner of St. Christopher Church Parish. Since 1968, she was an Extra Ordinary Minister of Communion and a member of the St. Christopher Altar Society and Senior Citizens Club. She also was a member of the St. Christopher Knights of Columbus Council #4508 Ladies Auxiliary. A Daily Communicant for many years, not only giving communion to the homebound but also staying and visiting with those in need of conversation. She was the Religious Education Coordinator for 10 years (1966-1977). Helen was also the recipient of the Archdioceses of New Orleans Saint Louis Medallion Award. One of her proudest accomplishments was being the Founder of the Mission Rosary Makers in the church parish, who’s mission was to make bead and cord rosaries at St. Christopher and send them to many parts of the United States and the world. The Mission Rosary Makers are still in action today. Thousands of rosaries have been made and donated so others can pray and call upon our Blessed Mother to intercede for them. She was deeply devoted to her faith saying her daily prayers until the Lord called her home.
Helen graduated from Holy Name of Jesus High School in New Orleans and also attended Soule’
College of Business in New Orleans. She helped care for her family members when they were dependent on others. Our family would like to thank all those who have had Helen in their thoughts and prayers. We would also like to thank the nurses and aides with Compassus Hospice: Kathleen, Carly, Candice, April, and Tee. Their care and compassion were extraordinary.
