Dear Chappelear Family, it is with sadness in my heart that I leave this message. Harvey taught me how to write traffic tickets and how to protect myself on the NOPD motorcycles. He taught me (almost) everything he knew about being a good policeman (woman). Harvey shared his St. Charles motorcycle beat with me and took me to all the best traffic locations and showed me what to look for and how not to get hurt. Harvey was a kind and gentle soul and I will be forever grateful for his guidance. May he rest in peace and may all your memories be of a sincerely great man.

Message from Wallace Jackson IV (aka Jr.) and family

I'm very thankful for his life. He was a giving and loving man, unmatched to most! I knew only two grandfathers growing up. 'Papa Harvey' was right down the street from us as I grew up. Everything he did and said will always be 'just down the street' of my life. His love and memory will stay ever close to me. I will miss his 'sugars', that cigar (rat-turd), and the bounce of his belly as he smiled and laughed. God was good to me by giving me a grandfather who loved as he did.

Very blessed. A little of him lives on in all of us!

Thankful!

JR
