Gerald D. Saurage Sr.

Gerald “Jerry” D. Saurage, Sr., age 91, passed away on November 22, 2018.

Beloved husband of Elena Wischan Saurage. Loving father of Rainell S. Price (Tom), Gerald Saurage, Jr. (Cathey), and Roger Saurage (Beverly). Loving step-father of Debra Rehage, the late George J. Rehage, Jr., and Michael J. Rehage, Sr. Grandfather of Kellie S. Bascle (Mark), Brannon S. Gilles (Mike), Craig Saurage (Melissa), and Gentry S. Davis (Eric). Step-Grandfather of Marshall Rehage, Sr., Michael Rehage, Jr., Shawn Meyer Christopher Rehage, Selena L. Tantillo (Trey) and Robert Landry, Jr. (Christy). Also survived by fourteen great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Earleen Roger Saurage. , his parents, Alvin and Willa Mae Saurage and his siblings Dorothy S. Williams, Alvin “Bub” Saurage, Sr., and Willa Mae “Noonie” Saurage.

Gerald had been employed by American Standard for twenty years. He was also a former owner of Metropolitan T.V. Service, and former owner of five Tastee Donut Shops. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served his country in World War II, as well as the Korean Conflict.

Jerry enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially football and baseball. He will be greatly missed by all including his faithful dog, Greta.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to to all caregivers at Canon Hospice for their loving and compassionate care, Nurse’s Registry, and a special thanks to his niece Paula, and to Lisa who were always available to aid in his care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr. Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
