Gerald James Huffman Jr., also affectionately known to many as "Jerry," age 62, of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on June 17th, 2018.
Jerry was born on August 5th, 1955, in Saint Louis, Missouri. The Huffman family moved to New Orleans where Jerry attended East Jefferson High School. At age 16 he began attending UNO until he was old enough to be admitted into Rice University in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Rice in 1976 with a triple major in Political Science, Accounting, and History. He recieved his Juris Doctorate from University of Houston Law in 1979, and was a member of Phi Delta Phi, the International Legal Honor Society.
A former partner at Lemle & Kelleher, Jerry was an Attorney who practiced Labor and Employment Law for over 35 years. An avid Cardinals Baseball fan, he thoroughly enjoyed reading, and could often be found tinkering with his computer or watching the latest Star Trek. He was an active member of the Harvey Canal Industrial Association (Westbank Business and Industry Association,) serving as their President in 2008-2009. An individual with a big heart, he also authored Louisiana Disability Laws .
Jerry is survived by; his 3 sons Chip, Adam, & Jack, and a granddaughter Amelie. His sister, Theresa, & his brother-in-law, John. Nieces and nephews; Katie, John Christian, Alex, Samuel, and Julieanne.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Gerald Huffman Sr., Eithel Caldwell Huffman, his sister, Sharon Huffman, M.D., and niece, Sharianne Huffman.
Visitation for Mr. Huffman will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001, on Monday, June 25th at 12:00PM. There will be a memorial service held afterwards at 2:00PM. Both are open family and friends.
