Esmeralda Bush

Esmeralda E. Bush passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the age of 84. She is survived by her beloved husband Enrique A. Bush; two sons, Jose A. Varela (Kristine), Gerardo E. Varela (Silvia); Grandchildren Jason M. Asevedo (Erin), Vanessa A. Varela, Gerardo A. Varela, Louis A. Varela, Christopher J. Varela and Kevin Levy; siblings Manuel Diaz Eguigure and Rosinda Diaz Eguigure.
Preceded in death by her parents, Rosinda Eguigure Colindres and Manuel Andara; son Mario A. Varela; Grandchildren Gabriel A. Varela and Bryan Aguilar; Siblings Cesar Eguigure, Casto Eguigure and Miguel Eguigure.
Esmeralda was born in Yuscaran, Honduras November 12, 1938. She moved to New Orleans in 1971, looking for a better life for herself and her 3 sons. She worked as a topography technician at GTX Corp. She was an entrepreneur, owning her own French Quarter restaurant “Esmeralda’s Café” on Dauphine St. She sold vitamins, cookware and jewelry. Esmeralda loved music, dancing, cooking and gardening.

She found great joy as a volunteer at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Kenner, LA. where she was a member of the prayer group “Apocento Alto”. She also participated in the “Holy Week Stations of the Cross” as she sponsored Station #13- Reflection, she also sponsored a “Prayer Celebration” every December 8th in honor of the Immaculate Conception.

Esmeralda will be missed but never forgotten. She will live in our hearts forever.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy. Kenner, LA. 70056. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM with a Mass at 12:30 PM. Inurnment will be immediately thereafter at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA. 70001.
