Ernest “Boo” George LeBlanc passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the age of 94. He was born in Belle Rose, LA and was a longtime resident of River Ridge, LA. Ernest was a devoted parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle where he served with the St. Matthew Usher Society, the Knights of Columbus #13425, and as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Gretna Mounted Police, the National Order of Trench Rats, and the American Legion Post 397. Boo retired from Antoine’s Restaurant after serving for 47 years. He will be remembered and missed by everyone who knew him.
Ernest was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Shirley S. LeBlanc; his parents, Linda Bergeron LeBlanc and Joseph “T. Joe” LeBlanc; his in laws, Jack and Ivy Simoneaux; his son, Ernest “Butch” LeBlanc, Jr.; his grandson, Daniel “Danny” Canfill; and his siblings: Ruth Borne, Marie Templet, Joseph “JP” LeBlanc, Inez Landry, Robert LeBlanc, and Samuel LeBlanc. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Ziegler (George) and Sonya Lawson (late, Donald); his grandchildren: Taj Bonnet, Jill Cosse, Jamie Lawson, and Jessica Bush; 9 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Elsie Czerny. Ernest is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Thursday, June 2, 2022. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm with a Mass at 2:00 pm followed by burial. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Kidney Foundation at https://www.kidney.org/.
