Elvin Louis Martinez

On May 15, 2023 Marty, a native of New Orleans, passed away and the May 15, 2023 world lost a charming
and funny man that was a gift to all who knew him. He was predeceased by Elvin Joseph
Martinez Jr, his father, Eldean Meirer Martinez, his mother, Rebecca “Bekki” Martinez, his wife
and Scott Martinez, his son. He is survived by his brother, Craig Allen Martinez, niece, Lisa
Martinez Claghorn, nephew, Steven Michael Martinez and fiance, Margaret Hughes.
Marty served 8 years in Vietnam in the Navy and Air Force. He was proud of his service and
loved God, Country and Family.
Marty was an Engineering Technician who retired from Entergy. He worked at Waterford 3
Nuclear Generating Station and had many memories and stories about his work there. He later
was a valued consultant in Florida and Tennessee doing research and writing procedures.
He loved to travel and enjoy fine restaurants of the Metro Area. He truly enjoyed doing research
on his computer for hours about various subjects. He loved his two precious puppies, Hexie
and Stryder. We are sure Hexie met him at the pearly gates. Stryder lives with Margaret and
misses his dad everyday.
We want to thank all of the beautiful people at Compassus Hospice who helped Marty to be
comfortable in his home until the day he passed, which was his final wish.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
