Edwin James Vieira

Edwin (Eddie) J. Vieira passed away at home on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the age of 94. He resided in Jefferson Parish, LA but was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Eddie retired from the Seafarer’s International Union of North America where he was employed as a merchant seaman for 50 years. He served in the Army between 1953 and 1955. Eddie is survived by his wife, Bonnie D. Vieira; his daughters, Denise Boihem (Larry), Deneen Vieira (Eric) and Bonnie Cedel (Rick); his grandchildren Andrew Cedel and Ryan Cedel; his brother and sister in law Gary and June Duker; and many nieces and nephews including Roberta Lamoureux, Ronald and Linda Vieira, Donna Janas and Debbie Duker. A loving and caring husband, father, and uncle, Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Rosa Vieira; siblings – Angela, Manny, Mac, and Adeline. Eddie was always there for his family and friends. He also enjoyed woodworking projects, fix-it projects and gardening. Special thanks to Concerned Care Hospice for their support. Visitation will be on October 30th 10AM at Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Home, 1600 North Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA with Service beginning at 11AM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA at Noon.
